What I "Bring to the table"

In my career as a programmer, I spent decades managing the information systems of small and medium sized companies. I worked closely with the business owners to make sure the systems designed would meet their needs.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Now, I am working with the Adobe suite of products to produce custom websites for the same group. I can also write web code using the languages of Java, Javascript, PHP, and more if needed. Within Javascript, I use the jQuery framework as needed.

I can create animations either through HTML5 and CSS using Javascript, or using tools like Flash (now called Animate) and After Effects.

While all of that may sound all nice and tech fancy, it wouldn't matter at all if I was designing web sites for me. My passion in building systems for people is to make computers serve THEIR needs, not mine. I take great pleasure in seeing others achieve their vision. And the truth is, I just don't know what makes your business tick, what you want to achieve.

So the first step is to collaborate on a design that is yours, specifically suited to you.

Then I take the design and create prototypes of what you ask for that you can view on your computer and mobile divices to see if I'm on the right track. If needed, we can repeat this phase a few times.

Once the prototype meets your approval, that's when all the whiz bang technology tools get their use. I build the live version of our prototype and you swoon at my amazing skill and we're happy ever after.

But just in case there's no swooning, you're not stuck. Maybe something in real life isn't as good as when we were dreaming of it. We get together and determine what it takes to get what you need from your site.

I'm aware that this all sounds peachy and everyone sounds peachy before they're hired. The only thing that I can tell you that might help you feel better is this: I actually care about how good a job I do. I would feel ashamed to not provide what I agreed on. I'm not a perfect human being, but I am personally compelled to be the agent of the people I work for.

Blunt, direct feedback is the best way to let me know I'm off the path. Because if I'm working for you, I want what you want.
