Ground Zero

Today web development is not the simple creation of web pages or images. Twenty years ago a web site was mostly static with a few interactive features to get contact information so the site's owner could develop leads.

But over time the abilities of web sites grew dramatically. Today, web sites are a supplement or even replacement for a visit to a business. A visitor must be able to interact with the products they are interested in and their experience needs to be customized specifically to their interests.

In order to provide a complete web experience to your customer, you need a vast array of technologies applied. Even if you don't have the budget to hire an army of developers to take care of it.

So that's where developers like me come in. People who work with all the technologies necessary to provide to your visitor the experience you want them to have.

While I have many years of experience with programming and even web building, the tools and structures available for creating web pages and internet applications change constantly. The code syntax looks a lot like it did 25 years ago, but the things we can do now are very, very different.

So I use this site to try out new things. Sometimes really small things, sometimes pretty complex things. After I see how it works in my development environment (I use Dreamweaver/Eclipse/Tomcat/mySQL) I put it here to make sure the behavior in the real world is exactly the same. It pretty much always is, but I think it pays to be sure.

Why?

Because I love to program. Really. Like some people love to golf or fish or bicycle. I used to do it for a living before I became disabled and I hope that I will be able to start up again sometime so I work to learn a skill set that is worth money to people.

For me, programming is just the same as doing the "brain teaser" puzzles that I used to get in magazines for entertainment. The more complex the task, the more fun.

If there's something you feel I can do for you, let me know.
